Contactor Type Switch

The above contactors are examples of contactor type automatic transfer switches.

A contactor type switch is purpose built rather than adapted using available technology like a breaker or lighting contractor switch.

The switch on the right is a good example of a contactor where you can see both stationary and movable contacts. This type of switch allows the technician to examine contacts for damage and keep them clear of deposits.

Breaker and lighting contactor switches do not allow for Fire code required inspection and maintenance.
